At Bury Archives is a hand written manuscript, bound into a book, titled 'Pedigrees of Families who formed The Congregation at The Bury Presbyterian Chapel, Silver Street, Built A.D. 1719'. It was compiled by John Lord around the year 1900, from the baptismal register, grave-stone records and other family sources.
It contains, amongst others, the following pedigrees:
- p38-39 - Holt of Greenhalgh Moss
- p40-41 - Holt of Greenhalgh Moss and Holt of Brooksmouth
- p42-43 - Holt of Walshaw and Holt of Bircle
- p44-45 - Holt of Walshaw & Hulme / Hulme - Holt Pedigree
The progenitor of each of these pedigree charts is John Holt as follows:
A. JOHN HOLT of Greenhalgh Moss. He married Ann* (see Surrender, Vol VI-112). Children of John and Ann were:
- A.1 James (b. 1692) of Greenhalgh Moss
- A.2 Richard of Greenhalgh Moss
- A.3 Henry of Brooksmouth
- A.4 Robert
- A.5 Edward of Bircle
- A.6 Andrew of Holcom
- A.7 John of Holcom
* Lord supposed that the wife of John Holt was Ann, 'Probably the daughter of Edward Hamer. Surrender 10 May 1717 to Richard Kay of Widdell for £670 of lands formerly Edward Hamers : amongst the parties to the said surrender were John Holt of Tottington, yeoman and Ann his wife: Robert & Oliver Kay sons of Richard Kay of Sheephey and Alice (daughter of Edwd. Hamer of Buckden) his wife'. There is a marriage recorded at Bury on 1st Sep 1713 of John Holt and Anne Hamer.
On page 38, Lord also tentatively notes (with dotted lines), a previous three generations (1) John Holte de Mosse ob 29 December 1616, (2) John Holt and (3) [unknown] Holt. Sources unknown.
