Here resteth the body of THOMAS ROTHWELL of Strongstry who departed this life the 18th day of March 1733 aged 72 years. Also ALICE ROTHWELL his wife departed this life May the 13th 1743 in the 73rd year of her age. Also RICHARD their son who died August 7th 1764 in the 75th year of his age.

Here resteth the body of RICHARD ROTHWELL of Gibbon Green who departed this life the 20th day of April 1779 in the 51st year of his age. Also of RICHARD the son of THOMAS son of the aforementioned RICHARD ROTHWELL who departed this life the 20th day of June 1781 in the 2nd year of his age.

Here resteth the body of THOMAS ROTHWELL of Holcombe Brook who departed this life the 26th day of January 1821 aged 55 years. Also BETTY his wife who departed this life the 28th day of November 1826 in the 63rd year of her age
Note: These monumental inscriptions are taken from a volume at Bury Archives. The two obscured inscriptions above are better described in 'The Country and Church of the Cheeryble Brothers' by Rev W. H. Elliott, (1893), page 19:
“In front of the Chancel in Holcombe Church, two stones bear the following inscriptions : — Here resteth the Body of Mary Rothwell, The Daughter of Edward Rothwell of Holcome, who departed this Life, May the 27th 1726, And in the loth year of her age. "Short was her life. The longer is her rest ; God takes them soonest, Whom He loveth best." Also the Body of Thomas Rothwell of Harpers in Holcome, Who departed this Life the 22nd day of July 1781, In the 46th year of his age. Also, of Martha, his Wife, Who died February 5, 18 14. Aged 84 Years. Here resteth the Body of Richard Rothwell of Ramsbottom, who departed this Life, December 4th 1745, In the 43rd year of his age.”

P036 - Here retseth the body of Easther the wife of Thomas Rothwell of Higher Chatterton who died 3rd January 1796 in the 20th year of her age. Her is also interred the body of Thomas Rothwell who died on the 18th January 1796 in the 51st year of his age. Here resteth the body of Peter the son of Thomas and Alice Rothwell of Higher Chatterton who died 6th March 1820 aged 2 years 10 months.
P038 - Here resteth the body of Thomas Rothwell the younger of Lower Chatterton who died on the 24th day of July 1785 in the 32nd year of his age. Also Mary the wife of James Seddon of Chatterton who died the 6th April 1831 in the 78th year of her age. Also the said James Seddon of Chatterton who died 21st April 1836 in the 77th year of his age.
P035 - Here resteth the body of Betty the daughter of James Rothwell of Chatterton who died on the 21st August 1760 in the 19th year of her age. Also Mary her mother who died April 14th 1765 in the 48th year of her age. Also Margaret his daughter who died 27th March 1770 in the 18th year of her age. Likewise of James Rothwell who died the 3rd June 1774 in the 55th year of his age.

Grave 81 - Her resteth the body of PETER ROTHWELL, late Clerk of this Chapel, who departed this life April 9th 1766 in the 71st year of his age. Also MARY, his wife died July 21st 1767 in the 77th year of her age.
