The Chadderton Coat-of-Arms and Turton High School Badge
I had been looking at the various crosses and shields associated with the medieval knightly orders, which I'd become interested in after going to Santiago de Compostella in Spain. I noticed a cross symbol on my old school badge (Turton High School), which I hadn't paid any attention to before. I wondered where it had originated from.

p80. Switchyard and workshops of the São Paulo Railway's original São Paulo Station, between Jardim de Luz and Rua da Estação, later renamed Rua Mauá. This street is seen at the right in the postcard. The station was inaugurated on February 16, 1867. That same year the famous photographer Militão Augusto de Azevedo took this picture.

The purpose of this little piece of research was to try and find a family link between Ralph Tonge and Susannah (nee Cooper) who farmed at Chadwicks Close Farm, Halliwell, between 1861 and 1871, and the occupiers in 1841 and 1851; James & Nancy Cooper.

1711 Quitclaim Release of Elizabeth Marsden of Bolton in le Moors
This document came up for sale on eBay in January 2016, being sold by Jackson Fine Art Ltd in Southampton. The starting price was £40. I thought it was worth extracting the genealogical information from the document before it disappears into a private collection.
